Review DDoS-GUARD 2024
DDoS-GUARD has carved a niche for itself in the realm of web protection and performance optimization, specifically targeting experienced users like webmasters, system administrators, and hosting providers. This review delves into the intricacies of their offerings, focusing on aspects most relevant to seasoned professionals.
Hosting Plans and Pricing: DDoS-GUARD's focus isn't on traditional shared hosting, but rather on specialized services. This includes protection services like DDoS mitigation, WAF, and DNS hosting, often bundled with Content Delivery Network (CDN) capabilities. This laser focus means they don't have "beginner-friendly" shared hosting plans. Instead, their pricing structure revolves around bandwidth, traffic volume, and the complexity of protection required. While this might seem less straightforward than fixed-price packages, it offers granular control and cost optimization for experienced users who understand their specific needs.
Ease of Use: Navigating DDoS-GUARD's platform might require some technical proficiency. The interface, while functional and informative, prioritizes comprehensive data presentation over simplified visuals. However, this is unlikely to deter seasoned professionals accustomed to working with detailed network configurations and analytics. DDoS-GUARD does offer API access, allowing for seamless integration with existing workflows for advanced users.
Performance and Server Speed: DDoS-GUARD shines when it comes to performance. Their global network of data centers, strategically located across key internet exchange points, ensures low latency and swift content delivery. Their CDN, a cornerstone of their offering, leverages caching mechanisms and optimized routing to accelerate website loading times significantly. While exact server specs aren't readily publicized, real-world performance tests consistently demonstrate excellent response times and high uptime, crucial factors for experienced users managing high-traffic or business-critical websites.
Security: As their name suggests, DDoS-GUARD places paramount importance on security. Their DDoS mitigation infrastructure is robust, capable of handling even the most sophisticated volumetric attacks. The Web Application Firewall (WAF) provides an additional layer of security, filtering out malicious traffic and protecting against common web vulnerabilities. Their DNS hosting, coupled with DNSSEC, safeguards against DNS poisoning and ensures traffic is routed securely.
Customer Support: DDoS-GUARD provides technical support primarily through a ticketing system and email. While not instantaneous, responses are generally detailed and provided by knowledgeable staff. For those seeking immediate assistance, phone support is available at higher tiers. A comprehensive knowledge base and technical documentation further empower users to troubleshoot issues and configure their services effectively.
Data Centers: DDoS-GUARD boasts a geographically diverse network of data centers strategically positioned across Europe, Asia, and North America. This wide distribution allows users to select servers closest to their target audience, minimizing latency and maximizing performance for website visitors.
In Conclusion: DDoS-GUARD caters to a specific audience: those seeking robust security and performance optimization, even at the cost of "beginner-friendly" simplicity. Experienced users, comfortable navigating technical interfaces and configuring advanced settings, will find DDoS-GUARD's offerings powerful and effective. While their approach might not be for everyone, their focus on performance, security, and granular control makes them a compelling choice for seasoned web professionals and businesses with mission-critical online operations.

Like many others, I wrote both to abuse@ ddos-guard.net and from their online form at ddos-guard .net/en/abuse about two pages in a website they host that are both a matter of copyright infringement (because they display videos that I created) and privacy (because I appear in said videos). DDoS-Guard don't reply, don't act...they don't even send you an automated message telling you they're taking care of the matter and giving you a ticket number. It's worse than that: they themselves know that emails received at those contacts are treated like trash by DDoS-Guard, as the agents in the live chat, even after many days, tell you that their best recommendation is to just write to abuse@ ddos-guard.net over and over again, completely disregarding your past reports.
UPDATE - 2 August 2024 So, immediately after my justifiably negative review, the only "update" I got was them blocking my IP and the domain of my emails (it's a personal domain), so as not to be "bothered" anymore with notifications of criminal activity in their websites. What I find even less professional was that they blocked my IP from accessing the infringing site, in a really childish and laughable attempt to make me think that they took down the whole site and that the issue was over.
